Gueule de Loup wooden windows are an icon of traditional French joinery, inseparable from Haussmann-style Parisian buildings. Their name refers to the specific way the sashes are joined: the "mouton" and the "gueule de loup" (wolf's mouth) form a unique structure with a distinctive look and significant practical advantages. One sash acts as the active leaf, the other as the passive leaf.

Gueule de Loup windows are fitted with characteristic espagnolette hardware and a decorative handle. The movable central mullion lets 15 to 20% more natural light into the interior than conventional windows.

Why it is worth recommending Gueule de Loup wooden windows:

  • Historical authenticity: they are a direct reference to the architecture of prestigious districts of Paris and other historic French cities (they meet the requirements of the Architectes des Bâtiments de France).
  • Exceptional brightness: they let in plenty of light thanks to the absence of a fixed mullion and the use of slimmer profiles than standard wooden systems.
  • Effective sound insulation: they efficiently reduce city noise thanks to the properties of the whole structure and the way the sashes are joined.

Choose Gueule de Loup wooden windows if your customer:

  • is renovating a historic building or wants to faithfully reproduce the Haussmann style;
  • expects the highest quality offered by noble wood species, precisely finished and effectively protected;
  • is looking for exceptional designs, with fittings that clearly set them apart from other wooden systems.
